Through this office, OCCC staff can nominate individuals for the programs listed below. Nominations are accepted in June of each year, and most of these programs are offered in the fall and spring. Email Natalie Gassman at nrg2@uab.edu for more information. - High-Impact Leadership Series (senior leadership and executive teams)
The goal of this program is for established senior leadership and executive teams to apply customized leadership knowledge and practices to their specific challenges while learning and developing skills as a leadership team. - UAB Medicine Institute for Leadership (senior/mid-level leaders)
This program’s goal is to enhance existing personal, leadership, and management competencies while leveraging current leadership strategies and trends. Guest speakers from executive-level leadership positions at UAB, including former Institute for Leadership graduates, complete the dynamic curriculum by demonstrating skills-to-practice experiences. - S.A.I.L.
Sharing Authentically to Inspire and Lead (junior faculty leadership program)
This program provides leadership development opportunities for a small cohort of junior faculty, to help them navigate the challenges unique to assistant professors in medicine. - L.E.A.D.
LEading Advancing Developing (mid-level faculty development program)
This program guides associate professors in building ongoing leadership capabilities, helps retain key faculty, and ensures more sustainable faculty success. - H.P.C.C.
High-Performing Care Collaborative (functional leadership teams)
This program instructs intact clinical leadership teams in the key management and leadership principles that drive positive outcomes, while allowing them to form their own collaborative action plans. It promotes collaboration across departments and entities, as well as creativity and problem-solving. - E.L.S.
Emerging Leaders Series
This program provides leadership development opportunities for a cohort of emerging leaders at the manager, director, or similar level who do not have direct reports but are serving in or poised to serve in leadership capacities. - Chief Residents Workshop
For chief residents across core residency programs, this workshop helps build foundational leadership skills early in their careers through focused, small-group sessions. Participants receive instruction in strengthening communication, understanding team dynamics, and developing practical strategies to lead more effectively during their chief year and in future academic or clinical leadership roles. - Lead Infinitely Workshop Series
This program enhances team-based leadership and communication by guiding participants through a five-part, interactive workshop series conducted during the workday. Intact care teams explore topics such as collective leadership, humility, civility, and navigating change, all while building trust, enhancing collaboration, and developing shared plans to improve patient care.
