Infusion Therapy

Infusion Therapy Waiting Area

Infusion therapy, by definition, means medication delivered directly into a vein. But here, infusion therapy accounts for all your needs as you receive the medicine, lean on loved ones, deal with side effects, and schedule follow-ups. Cancer treatment plans commonly include chemotherapy and immunotherapy, which are just two of the many forms of treatment delivered through infusion therapy. Chemotherapy can be a daunting treatment because of its effects on healthy cells along with cancerous cells. Our comprehensive approach means that an array of cancer experts will always be nearby and that you will receive infusions in a comfortable and compassionate atmosphere – designed with you and your loved ones in mind.

UAB Medicine Infusion Therapy is part of the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center, and it is the largest infusion therapy center in Alabama. We are also the only Magnet-designated infusion therapy center in the state. Magnet status is the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) most prestigious distinction for superior nursing practices and outcomes. Our center was built with you in mind: Physicians, architects, and designers worked together to anticipate your needs.

Experts to Support You

Infusion therapy is a seamless part of your expert-coordinated care plan. Our Oncology Care Certified nurses and Oncology-specialized pharmacists work together in one space, with your UAB physicians just minutes away.

Conveniences to Comfort You

Chemotherapy can take many treatments, which may take hours at a time and be spread over weeks: Your comfort during treatments is important to your well-being. Our spacious 84-chair clinic is filled with natural lighting and provides private spaces for you and your family and/or support systems to join you during appointments.

Patient chairs have outlets for chargers, heating and reclining options, and personal televisions. Wi-Fi is complimentary. Countless amenities are available by request, including Cold Cap machines for hair retention.
