Classic in Pink Luncheon Honors Survivors and Elevates Breast Health Awareness

On October 24, 2025, the Classic in Pink Luncheon — held as part of the Magic City Classic festivities — brought together community leaders, survivors and advocates to celebrate resilience and promote breast health education. The event honored local breast cancer survivors, caregivers and support groups while highlighting resources available to the Birmingham community.
U.S. Representative Terri Sewell addressed attendees with a message of hope and advocacy, and Timiya Nolan, Ph.D., associate professor and director for the Office of Community Outreach and Engagement at the UAB O’Neal Cancer Center, delivered essential education on early detection and encouraged participation in ongoing research studies. Additionally, Nolan was presented with an award from Representative Juandalynn Givan in recognition of her contributions to advancing breast cancer awareness in the Birmingham community.
A group photo captured the spirit of the day, featuring Rochelle Wallace; Mackenzie Fowler, Ph.D.; Timiya Nolan, Ph.D.; Tara Bowman and Maya Rhine of the O’Neal Cancer Center — each a champion for awareness and support.
