Desai co-authors study published in the New England Journal of Medicine

A study, co-authored by Aakash Desai, M.D., scientist at the UAB O’Neal Cancer Center and associate professor at the UAB Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine, is receiving national attention.

Becker’s Oncology recently highlighted findings published in the New England Journal of Medicine showing that researchers analyzed 563 patients in a phase 3 trial and found that adding tarlatamab to durvalumab maintenance therapy significantly improves survival for patients with extensive-stage small-cell lung cancer.

“This is a significant advance for our patients with small cell lung cancer, with improvement in survival for this aggressive disease. We are glad to have contributed to this,” said Desai.
