Lace Up for a Cure

Saturday, June 2, 2018 marked the beginning of a new tradition for the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB as it hosted its inaugural Lace Up for a Cure 2K walk at the UAB Campus Green.

Described by Cancer Center Director, Michael Birrer, M.D., Ph.D., as “an inclusive event for patients, families and caregivers, and also an event representing all cancer types,” the walk hosted more than 200 individuals touched by cancer in the community.

With fun activities for all, including walk warm-ups and fitness demonstrations by Meg Baker and music by DiJital Entertainment, the walk emphasized the importance of celebrating and raising awareness of the many services offered at the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center. Individuals at the event were able to support the Center’s mission of improving cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
