Mayor Woodfin visits the Cancer Center

Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin saw first-hand how the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB advances its mission of cancer research and care during a visit and tour of the center on October 31, 2018.

During his visit, Woodfin met with Cancer Center Director Michael J. Birrer, M.D., Ph.D., and Advisory Board President Robert Carr, as well as Board members Mitzi Davis and Trisha Dodson.

He also got an inside look at some of the facilities that make the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center among the nation’s best cancer research institutions, including the breast cancer research lab of Rajeev Samant, Ph.D., and Lalita Shevde-Samant, Ph.D., and the Advanced Imaging Facility, including the cyclotron, led by Jonathan McConathy, Ph.D. and Suzanne Lapi, Ph.D.
