Nolan represents UAB O’Neal Cancer Center at CCCIF 2026

Timiya S. Nolan, Ph.D., APRN-CNP, ANP-BC, associate director of Community Outreach and Engagement at the UAB O’Neal Cancer Center, participated in the 2026 Cancer Center Community Impact Forum (CCCIF) in Seattle, Washington, Sept. 27–29.

The annual forum brings together professionals from National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated cancer centers and other cancer programs to share approaches for advancing community-engaged cancer control.

Along with Tara Bowman, program director for the Community Health Advisor Program, Nolan led a roundtable discussion titled “Closing the Loop: A Community Navigation Model to Improve Cancer Screening Across a Predominantly Rural Statewide Catchment.”

The discussion focused on community engagement, specifically focusing on the role of cancer centers in building meaningful partnerships with the community they serve. The event provided an opportunity to share perspectives from the O’Neal Cancer Center’s work to strengthen community partnerships, expand cancer education and screening, and address cancer disparities across Alabama.

The center’s Office of Community Outreach and Engagement works with Medically Underserved Areas and vulnerable population, and it has trained more than 2,000 community members through its Community Health Advisors model.
